B2145 Lockgate Road to Chichester Road Street End Sidlesham
Update regarding the damaged and unsafe wall bordering the highway on the B2145 North of the junction with Lockgate Road:
WSCC Highways have spoken to the owner of the wall Friday morning. The owner informed Highways they have instructed contractors who will start work on Monday 18th March. Initially these works will be to remove or reduce the damaged section of wall to a height that is safe for highway users. This will take place under the traffic management that is currently in place. Once the making safe is complete Highways will arrange for a Highway Steward to visit the site and assess the situation prior to removing the traffic management.
Going forward the owner will need to arrange for a contractor to rebuild the wall, this will of course need to be undertaken under temporary traffic signals. Highways have advised the owner that they will need to appoint a suitably qualified contractor who will need to apply for a street works licence.
The owner will update Highways as the works progress.
