Stockbridge Road Closure 10th October 2026
Bus Details as follows from Stagecoach South:
We will continue to run all routes at their existing frequency. Additional vehicles have been added to the timetable to accommodate longer journey times expected for the diversion as well as additional traffic queuing from the A27 and through Hunston. We can't guarantee travel times because we don't know exactly how other road traffic will displace on the network, but we're hoping the extra time we've given will be enough in most circumstances. We can only advise customers to travel as early as possible to ensure an on time arrival in Chichester.
51: from Selsey & Sidlesham
Buses will run on normal route and at normal 20-minute daytime frequency but are expected to be affected by peak-time delays in Sidlesham, through Hunston and up to the A27. An additional 10 minutes has been given to weekday morning peak time buses. During the daytime, in the afternoon peak and at weekends, buses will run to normal timetables.
52/53: from The Witterings & Birdham
Buses have been given 15 additional minutes in each direction to travel the six-mile diversion route between Stockbridge Co-op and Chichester Gate via Donnington and Hunston. Buses will continue to run at normal 15-minute frequency. Peak time trips have been given an extra 25 minutes to accommodate the diversion and anticipated traffic queues on the B2145. Only one pair of stops will be unserved (at Grosvenor Road) with an additional temporary stop placed on St George's Drive near Manor Close.
600: from Bognor Regis, Pagham & North Mundham
Buses will run on normal route and at normal 20-minute daytime frequency but are expected to be affected by peak-time delays through North Mundham and up to the A27. An additional 10 minutes has been given to weekday morning peak time buses. During the daytime, in the afternoon peak and at weekends, buses will run to normal timetables.
We have written to Bishop Luffa School and Chichester High School with specific travel guidance for students using dedicated bus services to and from school.

The Stagecoach app/website will be the best place to plan journeys and track live buses once the works have started. The map feature will help reassure customers where a bus actually is on its route. We're anticipating the live updates at stop level may unfortunately not be too reliable for at least the early days of the closure. This is because our system relies on expected travel time and historic data to predict timings - we think traffic congestion will in reality be unpredictable, with drivers seeking alternative routes each day and buses not having consistent runs through the traffic.
